CAMP M/GEN. LICERIO I. GERONIMO, Taytay, Rizal – Four drug suspects on Saturday were nabbed in a joint buy-bust operation of the Rizal Provincial Intelligence Unit (RPIU) and Rodriguez Municipal Police Station (MPS), which resulted in the confiscation of more or less 12 kilos of marijuana valued at P1,228,000.

A report by Rizal Police director Col. Dominic L. Baccay to Police Brigadier Gen. Jose Melecio C. Nartatez, Jr., PRO Calabarzon (Police Regional Office Cavite/Laguna/Batangas/Rizal/Quezon) director, said at least four suspected drug “peddlers” were captured during the operation.

A joint buy-bust operation was conducted at Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal, at around 12:40 a.m. on February 4.

The operation stemmed from a confidential informant that one of the suspects and his cohorts were behind the rampant selling of marijuana in the said area.

Moreover, the primary suspect was already a target and subject to the operation of the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) before the tip of the informant.

After careful surveillance and planning in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 4A, the operation ensued, led by P/Lt. Col. Al-Rieza S. Kinang, Chief, PIU, wherein a police officer acted as a poseur buyer, managed to transact with the target suspect resulting in the arrest of the four suspects.

Recovered were one piece of the resealable stand-up pouch, 12 large cling-wrapped bricks of marijuana, two pieces of ziplock plastic sachets of marijuana, two bags, buy-bust money, cash in different denominations, and a digital weighing scale.

Informed of the Miranda Doctrine and Anti-Torture Law, the suspects, together with confiscated pieces of evidence, were brought to Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit (RPFU) in Taytay, Rizal, for appropriate laboratory and drug test examinations and will be charged for violation of Sec. 5 and 11 Article II of RA (Republic Act) 9165 known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
