Republic of China (Taiwan) donates disaster relief fund for Abra quake victims

ON behalf of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Representative Peiyung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines (TECO) donated US$ 200,000 to the Republic of the Philippines as a disaster relief fund at a hand-over ceremony in TECO on 10 August 2022, to assist the people affected by the recent earthquake in northern Luzon. Honorable Silvestre Bello III, Chairman and Resident Representative of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), accepted the donation on behalf of the government of the Republic of Philippines. Governor Dominic B. Valera of the Province of Abra was present to witness the donation.

The people of Taiwan commiserate with the victims suffering from Abra earthquake. Representative Hsu expressed Taiwan’s sincere condolences and sympathies to the victims and their families affected by the calamity. Mr. Bello extended his heartfelt gratitude to the government and the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) for their generosity and camaraderie on behalf of the Philippines.

Taiwan stands by the Philippines and sincerely hopes that the damaged homes will be soon restored and the victims return to their normal lives as early as possible. Taiwan will continue to collaborate with the Philippines on disaster prevention and climate resilience.
