QC cops nab Indian nat’l for ‘robbing’ MC taxi rider
POLICEMEN arrested an Indian national who allegedly robbed a rider of a ride-hailing app in Quezon City on Thursday.
The suspect allegedly robbed the 29-year-old motorcycle taxi rider in front of a condominium building along Quirino Highway in Barangay Pasong Putik Proper.
Police said the incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. when the suspect approached the rider, who was then waiting for a passenger booking.
The Indian national left but returned after a few minutes. He then pulled out a handgun and held up the victim at gunpoint.
The suspect grabbed the rider’s belt bag and was about to escape from the scene when a policeman patrolling the area saw the commotion.
The suspect was apprehended after a brief chase. Found in his possession is the victim’s bag, which contained P500 and a .38 caliber handgun.
The suspect is being held on charges of robbery and illegal possession of a firearm.
