CONTINUING legal offensive by the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) against CPP/NPA/NDF personalities in Visayas region this week led in the filing of criminal charges against at least 10 suspected rebel personalities, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Albert Ignatius D. Ferro said on Friday.

Charged for violation of Republic Act 9851 or the Philippine Act on Crimes against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and other Crimes against Humanity were three identified officers and six members of the CPP/NPA LEVOX Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee, the official said.

Ferro said that charged before the Sogod, Southern Leyte Provincial Prosecutor’s Office were Jason Rentillosa alias ‘Ka Lope/Teng/Manoy,’ Fermin Jason alias ‘Ka Jaguar/Dakpal’ and Roberto Lor Opo alias’ Ka Lowie/Resty.

The others were their members Rosa Marie Añora, John Gotiano Lamadora alias ‘Ka Joven,’ Janet Darantinao alias ‘Ka Mera/Mae,’ Daisy Abegonia alias ‘Ka Ansa/Lay,’

Jerald Rivera alias ‘Ka Ken/roc,; Rocelo Correa alias ‘Ka Rod/Roy’ and one ‘Ka Romnick/Dos.’

Maj. Gen. Ferro said that the 10 were rapped for their involvement in a gunbattle with Army soldiers in Barangay Lawgawan in Bontoc, Southern Leyte last August 18.

Two NPA guerrillas and one Army soldier were killed in the encounter while another trooper was seriously injured. A separate case for murder was also filed against the accused last August 25.

During the August 18 clash, members of the Army’s 802nd Infantry Brigade fought it out with rebels said to be remnants of the NPA’s Island Committee Levox under the CPP/NPA EVRPC.

The slain guerrillas were said to be NPA platoon leaders.
