PNPTHE Philippine National Police Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) arrested three wanted foreigners in the country and turned them over to the Bureau of Immigration for deportation proceedings, the Journal Group learned recently.

“These accomplishments against most wanted foreigners hiding in the country resulted from case build-up developed by the Foreign Intelligence and Liaison Division and Regional Intelligence Units of the Group in collaboration with our foreign counterparts and the Bureau of Immigration,” said PNP-IG director Colonel Edwin L. Portento.

The official identified the arrested as Nagaura Hiroki, a Japanese; Gregor Johann Haas, an Australian; and Indian national Himanshu ‘Henry’ Ahuja.

Hiroki, 26, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. last May 26 along Estrella St., Makati City based on a BI Summary Deportation Order issued on May 27, 2022 following a request from the Japanese government.

Records showed that the accused is the subject of a warrant of arrest for theft issued by the Tokyo Summary Court.

Described as a member of the Luffy Group, an alleged gang of scammers in Japan, Hiroki became the latest member of the gang to be accounted for by Philippine authorities.

Hiroki had been placed in the BI list of undesirable aliens and set to be perpetually banned from returning to Manila.

The suspect was found to have entered the country as a tourist in 2019.

Haas was arrested in Poblacion, San Remegio, Cebu by officers from the PNP-IG, the BI Fugitive Search Unit, the Cebu Police Provincial Office and the PNP Aviation Security Group last May 15.

The 46-year-old Australian was tagged as a member of the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel and a subject of an Interpol Red Notice.

The notice was released after the National Narcotics Board in Indonesia issued a warrant for his arrest for drug smuggling.

Col. Portento said the accused was arrested for being an ‘undocumented and undesirable alien.’

When arrested, the suspect yielded a Philippine driver’s license and Postal ID with the name “Fernando Tremendo Chimenea.”

The 3rd suspect, Ahuja, was arrested last May 14 at the Cypress Point Tower, Bonifacio Ridge Condominium in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City for violation of Batas Pambansa 22 or the Bouncing Check Law.

Portento said the Indian national has been convicted by the court and has been labeled as an undocumented and undesirable alien for overstaying in the Philippines.

Since April 1, 2024, the PNP-IG also accounted for a total of 186 wanted persons in the country, 17 of them subject of nearly P3.5 million reward from the Departments of Interior and Local Government and National Defense.
