AGENTS of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) on Wednesday afternoon captured a 52-year-old South Korean national who fled to the country after allegedly becoming wanted for large-scale fraud in Seoul since 2017, a report to PNP-CIDG Director Major General Eliseo DC Cruz said yesterday.

Cavite CIDG Provincial Officer Lt. Col. Bryan Dexter Andulan identified the wanted South Korean national as Je Hyun Woo, a resident of Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Bgy. Javalera, General Trias City, Cavite.

The official said that with the support of officers from the Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) of the Bureau of Immigration (BI), the Korean Desk in Region 4-A, and the 82nd Special Action Company of the PNP Special Action Force, they arrested the Korean on the strength of an Interpol Red Notice 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime H. Morente, on December 5 last year, signed a warrant of the deportation order against the accused, who is facing charges of violation of the Electronic Financial Transactions Act being heard by the Seoul Central District since November 1, 2018.

The offense carries a maximum penalty of three years. By Alfred Dalizon
