PHOENIX Super LPG can’t go wrong with former Los Angeles Lakers mainstay Johnathan Williams for more than a month now.

Williams finished with a near triple double of 38 points, 19 rebounds, and nine assists and Phoenix extended its winning streak to six games with a 113-104 win over NorthPort in the. PBA 48th Season Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Williams was at the forefront of the Fuel Masters’six-game winning streak– the best in franchise history.

The 6-9 power-forward from Memphis, Tennessee, who averaged 6.5 points in 24 games with the Lakers during the 2018-19 season, scored seven points in the Fuel Masters’ 18-9 finishing kick that put them ahead for good from a 95-95 tie.

Kenneth Tuffin contributed with 15 points, while Tyler Tio added 14 points for Phoenix, which won despite playing minus Jason Perkins.

Venka Jois topscored for the Batang Pier with 27 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in 41 minutes.

ArvinTolentino added 19 points and eight rebounds and Joshua Munzon contributed 13 points and three rebounds for the Batang Pier.

Meanwhile, Chris Ross of San Miguel Beer was the unanimous choice as the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week for the period of Dec. 13 to 17.

The 38-year-old Ross has been huge for the franchise from the period when the Beermen gunned down two legitimate title contenders in reigning champion Barangay Ginebra and TNT one after the other.
