PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. was very happy with the decision of 19 Albay leaders to join Wednesday the administration party Lakas-Christian Muslim democrats (CMD) led by Speaker Martin G. Romualdez.

In brief remarks, Romualdez, Lakas-CMD President, warmly welcomed the Albay mayors to the administration party.

Romualdez said President Marcos was aware of the event and was happy that the mayors decided to join Lakas-CMD.

Albay leaders have expressed gratitude to Romualdez for accepting them to the party, making the Lakas-CMD the dominant political party in Albay.

Nine municipal mayors of Albay took their oath as members of the ruling Lakas-CMD on Wednesday before Romualdez.

The mayors, representing nine of Albay’s 15 municipalities, swore allegiance to the ruling party and pledged to support its plans and programs.

The oath taking was witnessed by House leaders and Bicolano stalwarts Rep. Zaldy Co, chairman of the House committee on appropriations, and Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Sarte Salceda, chairman of the House committee on ways and means.

The municipal mayors and other local officials who took their oath as Lakas-CMD members are the following: Mayors Adrian Salceda of Polangui, Paul Garcia of Guinobatan, Wilfredo Maronilla of Libon, Sharon Escoto of Oas, Alan Arandia of Pio Duran, Carlos Irwin Baldo Jr. of Camalig, Carlwyn Baldo of Daraga, Dick Galicia of Rapu Rapu, and Joseling Aguas of Sto. Domingo.

Board Members Jesus Salceda Jr., Juan Miguel Salceda, Dante Arandia, Victor Ziga Jr., Melissa Abadeza, and Eva Lopez Ribaya, also joined the Lakas-CMD.

Councilors Roberto Lucila, Luis Gutierrez and Sunshine Imperial of Legazpi City and Caroline Ziga-So of Tabaco City have completed the newest group of Albay officials aligning themselves with one of the country’s biggest political party.
