Padilla to debate in Filipino

SENATOR-elect Robin Padilla said he would speak in “Tagalog” or Filipino in the session hall as an elected senator.

According to the neophyte senator, he sees “nothing wrong” if he speaks his native tongue, considering that he is a Filipino.

Padilla explained that his purpose in entering politics is to “serve” the Filipino people, especially those who are having a hard time understanding how laws are being crafted in Congress.

Padilla recently took a special course that will help him understand his job as an elected senator through a three-day seminar on executive mentoring and legislative governance and the Senate Legislative Process briefing.

The senator who topped the May 9 senatorial race in the national elections said he is “ready to face” his legislative work and engage his fellow senators in any plenary debates and discussion but maintained that he will definitely speak Tagalog to anyone of his colleagues. By Camille P. Balagtas
