AGENTS from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have confiscated wheat flour worth P1.3 million that bore “fake” trademark markings during raids in Manila and Quezon City.

The NBI acted on a search warrant for violations of Republic Act (RA) 8293 (Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines), Sections 155 (Trademark Infringement), and 168 (Unfair Competition) in relation to Section 170.

The establishments were raided in Main Street and Guidote Street, Bgy. 402 Zone 41 District IV, Sampaloc, Manila, and two trading firms in Bgy. San Agustin, Novaliches and Bgy. Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, both in Quezon City.

Philippine Foremost Milling Corporation filed the complaint, seeking investigation and enforcement actions to stop the proliferation and distribution of fake wheat flour that unfairly competes with Washington Gold Hard Wheat Flour.

The owners of the raided establishments are now facing formal charges.
