Love behind bars

In a heartwarming display of love, a detained Muslim couple exchanged vows at the Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Southern Leyte.

The ceremony, officiated by two esteemed Imams, was witnessed by the couple’s family members who joined in the celebration at the Maximum Security Camp.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) shared that the wedding is more than just a ceremony, but a transformative act that challenges societal norms.

Aside from LRP, the other BuCor facilities are New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa (NBP), The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Oriental Mindoro; and Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte.

BuCor is an attached agency of the Department of Justice. Under the law, the DOJ has administrative supervision over BuCor.
