MORE political parties and groups on Friday reaffirmed their commitment to the House supermajority coalition under Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

After the expressions of support by Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) and Nacionalista Party (NP), the National Unity Party (NUP), Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc. (PCFI) and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) reiterated their strong commitment to remain as solid partners of Speaker Romualdez in pushing the legislative agenda of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“The National Unity Party would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to the supermajority coalition formed by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez in the House of Representatives to help President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. achieve his vision of peace and prosperity for the nation,” said Ronaldo V. Puno, chairman of NUP.

“We are witness on how Speaker Romualdez has steered the House in legislating key reform measures included in the 8-Point Socio-Economic Agenda of the Marcos administration. We vow to continue working in close partnership with Speaker Romualdez, whose leadership and work ethic moved the legislative mill round the clock, producing an unprecedented number of priority bills passed on third and final reading in less than a year in office. Our Representatives in the 19th Congress would also wish to extend their warmest congratulations to Rep. Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales for having been elected as Senior Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives,” Puno added.

Deputy Speaker and Ilocos Sur 2nd District Rep. Kristine Meehan Singson and Rizal 1st District Rep. Michael John “Jack” Duavit, both NPC stalwarts, said, “The wheels of government are efficiently turning in the direction of pandemic recovery and economic progress.”

“This is due to the efforts of President Marcos Jr. to get more investments that are creating more jobs and uplifting the lives of Filipinos. We, in the Nationalist People’s Coalition, recognize the successes that the Marcos administration has accomplished in barely a year in office. We attribute these successes in huge part to Speaker Martin Romualdez, who has worked closely with the President in realizing the administration’s Eight-Point Socio-Economic Agenda,” the NPC leaders said.

“We continue and remain committed to be part of Speaker Romualdez’s supermajority coalition in the House of Representatives to better the Philippines’ standing on poverty alleviation and job generation. We would also like to congratulate Rep. Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales, one of the most senior and hard-working House leaders, for having been elected as Senior Deputy Speaker of the 19th Congress,” they said.

“We are optimistic that SDS Gonzales is the best person to help Speaker Romualdez in galvanizing the multi-partisan support for the country’s recovery from the pandemic and overall economic growth and development,” the NPC leaders added.

Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co said, “The Party-list Coalition joins its fellow House members in congratulating Rep. Aurelio ‘Dong’ Gonzales, Jr. for his election as Senior Deputy Speaker in the 19th Congress.

“As Coalition President, I’m privy as to how SDS Gonzales worked diligently to help Speaker Martin Romualdez steer the House into approving a record-number of priority bills even before the conclusion of the First Regular Session,” Co, chairman of the House committee on appropriations, said.

“I firmly believe that SDS Gonzales will remain a steady and reliable ally of Speaker Romualdez in delivering the commitments made by the House in pursuit of the 8-Point Socio-Economic Agenda of the Marcos administration,” he added.

Co said the PCFI vows to remain a staunch partner of the supermajority in the House of Representatives in addressing issues and concerns of its constituents as part of its legislative functions.

“We laud Speaker Romualdez for his exemplary leadership, which was marked by a compassionate and fair treatment of partly-list organizations that were considered second-class solons in past Congresses,” Co said.

In return, he said the group reiterates its firm resolve to help Speaker Romualdez make the current batch of party-list lawmakers in the House of Representatives one of most hardworking in the history of Philippine legislation.

Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Lakas-CMD co-chairman, said Lakas-CMD is the country’s dominant political party and continues to be united and supportive of the leadership of President Marcos under the stewardship of party president, Speaker Romualdez.

“Our decades-long solidarity has witnessed and endured many trials which only strengthened our bond that is founded on our shared passion to serve our nation. Through the darkest of storms and greatest of tribulations, we have proven time and again that our unity will never be torn down,” Revilla said.

“Pinagtibay at pinagbigkis ang samahang ito ng pagsasama at pag-uunawaang hinubog at pinanday ng panahon. Sinubok pero hindi nawasak, bagkus ay palakas pa ng palakas. Mabuhay ang Lakas-CMD!” Revilla added.
