Following Negros Oriental Gov. Degamo’s burial

JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated on Friday that a flood of evidence regarding the sensational murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, which also resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, would begin to surface following his burial.

“Ngayong nailibing na si Gov. Degamo probably marami na tayo makakausap na magpapaliwanag sa atin sa mga pangyayari sa Negros Oriental sa mga nakaraang taon,” Remulla said during an interview with radio station DZBB.

He explained that it is customary to refrain from pushing individuals to provide information while the deceased is still lying in state as they are still in mourning.

In addition, Remulla renewed his appeal to Negros Oriental Representative Arnie Teves to return home and face the charges brought against him.

Teves was accused of multiple murders, with the Department of Justice implicating him in deaths that occurred in the province in 2019.

He is also being linked to the slaying of Degamo, but he has consistently denied any involvement in the incident.

Remulla reminded Teves of the legal adage, “Flight is indicative of guilt.”

“Meron tayong legal adage…na flight is an indication of guilt. We will consider this as a case of flight ‘pag hindi siya bumalik sa bansa,” Remulla said.
