Meralco to energize coffee facility in Bukidnon
MANILA Electric Company’s (Meralco) social development arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), has pledged to energize the coffee processing facility of Milalittra Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (MILFACO) in Talakag, Bukidnon using solar energy.
The project falls under OMF’s Agriculture and Livelihood Electrification, according to the power firm.
The project will boost production and increase the income potential of more than 100 cooperative members belonging to the Talaandig Indigenous People (IP) who rely on this livelihood to support their families.
Members of the Talaandig tribe flew from Bukidnon and joined the entire Meralco community during the ceremonial turnover of the solar system led by Meralco and OMF Chairman Manuel Pangilinan.
Present during the ceremony were PLDT President and CEO Alfredo S. Panlilio, Meralco and OMF Chairman Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan, MILFACO General Manager Joannah P. Dumaquita, Talaandig tribe member May Joy Calixto, MILFACO Chairperson Reynaldo D. Besto, Talaandig tribe member Belinda Besto, OMF President and Meralco Chief CSR Officer Jeffrey O. Tarayao, OMF Trustee and Meralco Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho and OMF Trustee and Meralco Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand Geluz.
