Manila Mayor Maria Sheila “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan declared on Saturday asynchronous classes in all public schools in all levels from March 6 to March 11 due to the upcoming transport strike.

Asynchronous learning, according to The Glossary of Education Reform, is a general term used to describe forms of education, instruction, and learning that do not occur in the same place or at the same time.

The term is most commonly applied to various forms of digital and online learning in which students learn from instruction—such as prerecorded video lessons or game-based learning tasks that students complete on their own—that are not being delivered in person or in real time.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan also encouraged private schools in Manila to switch to online classes during the transport strike.

She also ordered Manila Police District (MPD), Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Office (MDRRMO) to deploy vehicles that will assist possible stranded passengers throughout the duration of the transport strike.

Meanwhile, Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, ordered all private and public schools to conduct an online or modular mode of classes in all levels during the duration of the transport strike.
