Maynilad bares update on pipe realignment activity

October 30, 2021 People's Tonight 232 views

AFTER shutting down its pumping stations and closing several pipe network valves yesterday, Maynilad proceeded to dewater its 7-foot-diameter pipeline along Sobriedad in Sampaloc, Manila, which has to be removed so a path can be cleared for DPWH’s drainage line for its flood control project.

The dewatering was aided by the installation of “line stoppers” plugging both the upstream and downstream portions of the network that feed water to this pipeline. Once all water was drained from it, the pipe cutting commenced.

As of 8:00 a.m. today, October 30, 2021, Maynilad completed the cutting of this pipeline, and the last segment is already being lifted and removed. This is now 30% toward full project completion.

The next step, which is now being done, is to lower the cross-under pipe into the trench to replace the pipe segment that was removed. Meanwhile, parallel activities (i.e., maintenance work in pumping stations and leak repairs in other areas) are also being done simultaneously.

The deployment of Maynilad mobile water tankers started as of yesterday, and several local government units have pitched in so that more affected communities will receive water through tanker deliveries. The company also has 16 stationary water tanks installed in fringe areas where the service interruption would take longer.

Updates on the project progress will be provided in the succeeding days. For water tanker delivery requests, customers may reach Maynilad through the following channels:
