WHAT’S the latest on the PBA and its coronavirus-hit 46th season?

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial will provide the answer during the 116th “Usapang Sports on Air” by the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) via Zoom on Thursday.

Marcial is expected the discuss the resumption of the PBA Philippine Cup at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga on Sept.1 and the new health and safety protocols that the league will undertake based on the recommendation of the IATF.

Joining Marcial in the 10 a.m. public service program sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Games and Amusements Board (GAB) are Paolo Tancontian, who was elected as president of Pilipinas Sambo recently; Joyce Gail Reboton, who is set to compete in the World Classic Powerlifting Championships in Sweden: and Jayson “The Smasher” Mama, who will fight for the IBF world flyweight championship against Sunny “Showtime” Edwards in London on Sept. 11.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members and friends in the sports community to attend the weekly program shown on Facebook and YouTube.

TOPS is composed of editors, reporters and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids and friends from different social media groups.

This is the 116th episode of the TOPS “Usapang Sports” since its formal launch at the National Press Club in 2018 and its 58th edition since turning to the online platform due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Veteran sportscaster Ernest Leo Hernandez is the moderator.
