MANILA Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan encouraged parents to have their children aged nine to 59-months be given measles and rubella vaccine while 0-59 months old of oral polio vaccine to avert measles and polio outbreak.

Mayor Honey said the Manila Health Department (MHD) on Friday launched in Baseco Covered Court the Chikiting Ligtas sa Dagdag Bakuna Kontra Polio, Rubella at Tigdas program in line with the celebration of World Immunization Week 2023 dubbed “The Big Catch Up”.

The mayor added that the city government of Manila is targeting 80 percent on its first vaccination to maintain its status as number one in any immunization program.

“So ngayon po, hinahabol natin yung bakunahan natin, sa measles o sa tigdas, kailangang makapagpabakuna tayo ng 139,731na mga bata at siyempre yung mapapatakan ng oral polio, 164,290, parang two in one na po yan, injection tapos patak” the mayor emphasized.

She also encouraged parents to allow MHD personnel making rounds on every household to have their children vaccinated against measles and rubella, and provide them with oral polio vaccine.
