THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) will carry out the hold departure order (HDO) issued by a Muntinlupa court against former Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag and former Deputy Security Officer Ricardo Zulueta, according to Justice Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Atty. Mico Clavano.

Clavano emphasized that the BI’s implementation of the HDO is a ministerial obligation, hence, a separate court order is no longer required.

“Immigration will implement the HDO. It is ministerial. BI will come out with an order soon for the implementation of the HDO,” Clavano said.

The BI released an order dated April 27 for the inclusion of Bantag and Zulueta in the hold departure list.

The Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court granted the Department of Justice’s motion to issue a HDO against Bantag and Zulueta in connection with the death of middleman Jun Villamor.

Bantag, Zulueta, and three other individuals were issued a warrant of arrest by the Las Piñas City Regional Trial Court in connection with the murder of broadcaster Percy Lapid. The Las Piñas court has not recommended bail for their temporary liberty.

Lapid, also known as Percival Mabasa, was a DWBL radio commentator who was shot dead on October 3 while on his way home.
