MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko presidential bet Isko Moreno and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna have directed the early distribution of ‘Noche Buena’ packages to all families living in the city totaling about 700,000 in all.

The mayor said that the Christmas food boxes are expected to reach the most depressed parts of the city in order to ensure that they have food on their table come Christmas eve and Christmas Day.

Moreno and Lacuna started the Christmas food packages’ distribution in District 1 and according to the mayor, the said distribution will go on for the days to come until all the six districts of Manila would have been covered.

Each box contains food items normally prepared in households during the ‘Noche Buena’ or Christmas eve get-together.

Moreno said the gift-giving activity is the city government’s small way of looking after the residents who cannot afford to put food on their table on Christmas.

To date, families from a total of 134 barangays from Districts 1 and 2 have already received their Christmas boxes. There are 896 barangays in Manila.
