Malabon trader survives ambush

A 50-YEAR-OLD man engaged in lending business survived an ambushed that took place in Barangay Dampalit Tuesday evening in Malabon City.

Allan Cruz of 49 Rosal St., Brgy. Tanza, Navotas City was driving his Toyota Vios car and traversing along M. Sioson Street when on of the two suspects appeared at the corner of Road 5 at around 10:45 p.m. and shot him repeatedly.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Cruz, though wounded, managed to drive fast to escape and sought the assistance of policemen from Police Sub-Station 6 who rushed him to Chinese General Hospital for treatment of bullet wounds.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered from the crime scene three empty shells, two deformed bullets and a fragment of unknown caliber of firearm which will be submitted to Northern Police District (NPD) Crime Laboratory for ballistic examination.

Malabon deputy police chief for administration P/Lt. Col. Rhoderick Juan said investigators are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive behind the incident while a follow up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects are being carried out.
