The reminder has issued by Atty. Clarence V. Guinto, Director of the Land Transportation Office-Law Enforcement Service and concurrent head of the LTO-National Capital Region-West amid the celebrations during this holiday season.

Guinto said the agency, with the strict order of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Assistant Secretary and LTO Chief Edgar Galvante, is aiming for “zero” vehicular accident, damages or casualties during and until the end of the holiday season.

Guinto said as early as the first week of December, the agency particular — the LTO-LES and LTO-NCR-West — has been coordinating with different agnecies, especially Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), and all public transportation groups and private sector to ensure that health protocols are strictly observed.

The agency has also allocated funds to share to the less fortunate.

Guinto repeatedly reminded the public to avoid drinking liqour if they are going to drive.

Guinto said LTO-traffic enforcers have been deployed in bus terminals check the road worthiness of buses.

LTO personnel are also conducting random drug tests om drivers, and conductors.

Earlier, Guinto said the agency had apprehended 24 truck drivers for testing positive for illegal drug while driving.

All the apprehended drivers have been properly turned over to the local police for proper disposition.
