Incumbent Tarlac solon passes away

INCUMBENT Tarlac 1st District Rep. Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco passed away. He was 58.

The untimely demise was announced by his family in a Facebook post.

“It is with a heavy heart that we regret to inform you that my husband, Claudia and Jaime’s father, Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco has passed away,” ” China Jocson said.

The family did not mention the cause of death.

“We feel at peace knowing that he can rest now. We would like to memoralize him by celebrating his wonderful life at The Heritage Memorial park from Wed to Friday, Feb 23 to 25 at 9am to midnight and in Tarlac on Saturday, Feb 26 at 10 am to midnight,” the family statement said.

Cojuangco was the son of the late business tycoon Eduardo “Danding Cojuangco.

He was seeking reelection on May 2022 national and local elections.

He was the chairman of the House Special Committee on Flagship Programs and Projects. He principally authored 19 bills and co-authored at least 17 proposed measures in the 18th Congress.

The House of Representatives, led by Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, expressed sincere sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our dear colleague, Rep. Carlos “Charlie” Cojuangco. The House of Representatives mourns the loss of one of its eminent political party leaders.

His untimely demise leaves a void in the Nationalist People’s Coalition and the entire House supermajority coalition. We have lost a leader and a friend,” Velasco said in a statement.

“May he rest in peace, and may his family find comfort during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed,” he added.
