Helping the gov’t

LIKE other democratic societies, the Philippines, as the bulwark of democracy in this part of the world, needs “well-meaning, constructive and responsible” fiscalizers.

Admittedly, “democracy flourishes” when government authorities, through concerned offices and agencies, listen to the “legitimate” complaints of the people.

We cannot overemphasize the importance of encouraging the people, including the ordinary citizens, to join the war against corruption, criminality and illegal drugs.

“Iparating natin sa Malakanyang at iba pang opisina ng gobyerno ang ating mga karaingan at problema, pero sa paraang mahinahon at legal,” according to village official.

“Siguradong pakikinggan at gagawan ng agarang aksiyon nina Pangulong Marcos at Bise Presidente Sara Duterte-Carpio ang mga hinaing ng taumbayan,” he added.

What’s important now is for all of us Filipinos, from the rich and mighty to the poor and lowly, to work in unison for the benefit of the more than 110 million people.

The appointment of little-known but highly-qualified people to his official family is ample proof that the new Chief Executive from Ilocos Norte is out to address our problems.

That’s why the Filipino people ought to support the various programs, projects and initiatives of the Marcos government, which started at 12 noon on June 30.

The government, under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and VP Sara Duterte-Carpio, is seen to first listen to the “pros and cons” of controversial issues.

In the view of many, discussing the “minuses” and “pluses” of a certain issue will be good for this poverty-stricken Southeast Asian nation and the people in the long term.
