Germanic1This trail cam image was recorded in July 2018 at Tankenberg, in The Netherlands. Tankenberg is a hill with a legend attached of a goddess named Tamfana from Germanic paganism. Supposedly, her temple was destroyed by the Romans, but her soul remains on the hill with her companion boar.

DemonFairyFairy1From what I can gather, the person who placed the trail cam on the hill was attempting to capture an image of a strange ghost-like entity that people had been observing on the hill.

The image that was captured made the rounds on the internet not long afterwards. Many compared it to a legendary being from Germanic mythology named Derk, who would ride with the Gods on top of his wild boar during the ‘Wild Hunt.’ Some say that Derk was actually a guise given for Odin or Wodan.

fairy2Fairy3The image created a stir locally, leading to a lot of speculation that Derk or Tamfana were haunting the hill.
