MOTORISTS need to brace for the first wave of fuel price increase for this year after oil companies unleashed their big-time pump price hikes effective Wednesday.

Chevron Philippines announced an increase of diesel products by P2.40 while gasoline and kerosene by P1.85 starting 12:01 a.m.

Two other major oil firms — Petron Corporation and Pilipinas Shell — will impose the same price adjustments, along with Seaoil Philippines effective 6 a.m.

PTT Philippines, Total Philippines, Unioil, Petro Gazz and Phoenix Petroleum announced that they also implement the same price hikes effective 6 a.m. while Clean Oil at 4:01 p.m.

According to Jhay Juilian, Communication Officer of Thai-led PTT Philippines, the continued increase of international oil prices has caused domestic prices to climb.
