IN compliance with the recent memorandum of the IATF for the Alert Level 3 protocols and considering the notable increase of COVID cases in National Capital Region ( NCR) the Department of Education (DEPED ) said the face -to -face classes for basic education are deferred until the alert level reverts to Level 2.

“It must be noted that the Pilot Face to Face classes ended last December and the only ones affected will be those included in the expansion phase, “ the DEPED said in a statement.

Meanwhile, face-to-face classes in pilot schools in areas under Alert Levels 1 and 2 shall continue in the meantime that DepEd finalizes its report on the pilot face-to-face classes.

Last December 6 , limited face- to-face classes in the NCR started as 28 public schools conducted the classes.

This bring a total number of 177 schools nationwide that have been imposing limited in-person classes since November 15 for 100 public schools and November 22 for 18 private schools.

The pilot run of in-person classes will run for two months. It will end in January 2022 and will serve as the basis of the department to implement a full swing of face-to-face classes nationwide despite the threat of COVID-19.
