Free train rides for gov’t workers
IN celebration of the month-long Philippine Civil Service Anniversary, government workers are offered free rides on Monday, September 19, 2022, by the Department of the Transportation (DOTr), MRT-3, Light Rail Transit Authority-LRT2, and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) as part of the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) “Treats to Government Workers”.
“The free rides offered to our government workers in our major rail lines is the Department of Transportation’s way of honoring them. These civil servants give [an] important contribution and perform [an] indispensable role to nation building,” Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista said.
The free rides from MRT-3 and LRT-2 lines are available only from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) will give free rides to government employees the whole day, from the first to the last trip on all operational routes, subject to the availability of its trainsets.
Government workers must present their IDs as proof of their employment with any government agencies, offices, and instrumentalities to avail of the free rides.
