TOURISM Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco is upbeat on the construction of 48 new hotels in emerging tourism destinations all over the country, which she said is an “affirmation” of the government’s efforts to improve tourism development.

The Tourism Chief also thanked members of the Philippine Hotel Owners Association (PHOA) for their confidence in the Philippine government, their close cooperation and support for the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s drive to prioritize tourism development.

“These investments are a manifestation of the positive climate for tourism development in the country, We take this as a very encouraging affirmation of the steps that have been taken by the Marcos administration to improve the basics of tourism development,” said Frasco.

Frasco announced that on Dec. 2, she will break ground on the JW Marriott Hotel brand in Panglao, Bohol.

This project, she explained is a materialization of the efforts of Marcos administration to attract foreign investments in the country.

“We thank the developer AppleOne (Properties Inc.) for expressing their confidence in Philippine tourism in this very global manner,” she said.

The PHOA has announced that Filipino hotel owners have put in the pipeline the construction of 48 hotels in emerging destinations across the country as they see a “very bright” future for Philippine tourism and the hospitality sector.
