STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija – Probers have zeroed in on a woman, who was said to be one of two motorcycle-riding suspects in the cold-blooded murder of Barangay Inspector head Emiliano Muncal, whose killing on Wednesday night here was allegedly triggered by love triangle.

Nueva Ecija police provincial office director Col. Rhoderick B. Campo said a lone witness has surfaced and pointed to the said woman, who was riding with the unidentified gunman during the attack which was perpetrated at 7:19 p.m. here.

Case prober MSgt. Niño B. Callueng confirmed that the still unnamed woman was already arrested during hot pursuit operations conducted by combined units from the local and provincial police.

“Unidentified pa rin po ang gunman. Ayaw po magsalita ng babae na allegedly according sa witness itong babae ang kaangkas ng gunman,” Callueng told the Journal Group in a text message on Friday.

On Wednesday, Muncal was about to park his Yamaha NMAX motorcycle in front of his house when the two suspects suddenly came from behind and shot him five times, killing him on the spot.

Quoting a report by police head Major Fortune Dianne Bernardo, Campo said their initial investigation pointed to love triangle as possible motive for the killing.

Campo added that he did not anymore order the creation of a task group to probe the killing as “the case looked manageable” from their standpoint.

Muncal’s murder was the second within five weeks involving incumbent barangay captains in Nueva Ecija. On Nov. 5, Jaen barangay Lambakin chair Zoilo De Belen was gunned down by still unidentified assassins on board a black sedan.
