PALAYAN CITY – This capital city of Nueva Ecija celebrated its 56th founding anniversary as a city with a five-day-long holding of various events and activities that culminated in the staging of the “Mayor Rianne Cuevas First Invitational Trail Racing Contest” at the Aulo Dam’s Red Bull mountain here on Sunday.

Vianne Cuevas, daughter of Mayor Rianne J. Cuevas, led the activity along with members of the city council headed by Vice Mayor Moises Carmona Jr., city department heads and employees, barangay officials, other guests and over 100 motorcycle trail rider-participants.

“This is something we’re looking forward to develop, this natural site, not only for Palayanos but for everyone to see the beauty of our city. This event is to promote safe-riding. This event is for all of you,” said Vianne, in showcasing the Aulo Dam Red Bull hill peak as one of the local tourism attractions of the city.

Those over 100 riders who participated in the trail racing competition mostly came from this city, the towns of Bongabon, Rizal, Llanera, the cities of San Jose, Gapan and Cabanatuan, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Aurora province, Las Piñas and the ANP riders.

Mayor Cuevas said the other highlights of the 56th founding anniversary celebrations included the blessing and turnover of five newly-built multi-purpose barangay halls to Bgys. Sapang Buho, Bagong Buhay, Popolon, Mapaet and Ganaderia and the distribution of land titles to local residents in Bgy. Popolon.

On Dec. 2, the mayor led the ceremonial turnover of about 50 housing units built under a National Housing Authority-Palayan City government partnership to qualified beneficiaries in San Lorenzo Village, Bgy. Atate, this city.

On Dec. 3 at 6 p.m., Mayor Cuevas, along with Vianne, former Vice Governor Edward Thomas F. Joson and members of the city council, led the ceremonial switching-on of the streetlights installed along the highway from the city hall going to Bgy. Manacnac and to the Salupungan section.

“Tayo lang ata ang may pailaw ilaw sa highway dito sa buong Nueva Ecija, I hope maging inspirasyon ito sa ibat-ibang bayan at city at para din ito sa safety ng ating mga motorista at isa na din paraan ng beautification ng lungsod. Ang liwanag na dulot nito ay galing sa puso ng mga Cuevas,” she explained.
