THE Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court (QCMTC) Branch 35 has sentenced a driver to 3 months imprisonment and a fine of P50,000 for driving under the influence of liquor.

In the order released by Presiding Judge Maria Ella Cecilia D. Dumlao-Escalante, the suspect was found “guilty” in violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 12 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10586 (Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013).

The court also said that according to Paragraph d, Section 12 of RA 10586, his license is suspended for 12 months, counted from the finality of the judgment.

Based on the record, on September 10, 2022, a composite team of the Land Transportation Office (LTO), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) were conducting an operation against drunk driving and using illegal substances (while operating a motor vehicle) when they flagged down the accused.

The suspect was apprehended at the corner of F. Dela Rosa and Esteban Abada Sts., Barangay Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

LTO-Law Enforcement Section (LES) Traffic Enforcer Alvin Domingo said the suspect was driving under the influence of liquor.

Domingo said further tests confirmed that the driver was “drunk” prompting the investigation officer to file the case before the proper court.
