Drug suspect killed, P171K shabu seized in Cabanatuan sting

CABANATUAN CITY — More than P171,633 worth of shabu were seized while a suspected drug dealer was shot dead following a buy-bust which saw the suspect turning hostile and initiating a gunfight with undercover operatives on Friday night here.

Provincial police director Col. Jaime O. Santos identified the slain suspect as Roberto Dela Cruz, alias Obet, of Bgy. Mayapyap Sur, this city. Police tagged him as a known drug personality included in the police watchlist.

The armed encounter occurred during a buy-bust in Purok 7, Bgy. Talipapa at 7:20 p.m.

City police head Lt. Col. Barnard Danie V. Dasugo said the suspect fought off arresting undercover lawmen after shabu worth P500 was sold by the suspect to a poseur-buyer.

A gunfight ensued resulting in the suspect’s instantaneous death.

Recovered from the suspect were 25.24 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P171,632, including the P500 buy-bust money. Also recovered were the suspect’s .38 caliber revolver with a fired bullet and two misfired cartridges, and five spent bullets for cal. 9mm.

Meanwhile, Zaragosa police head Major Jaime P. Ferrer said an anti-illegal drug operation which they conducted in Bgy. Carmen at 12:15 a.m. resulted in a firefight that killed a suspected drug personality identified as Dickson Billones, alias Jayson, of Bgy. Bonifacio District, this city.

His unidentified cohort managed to escape towards Aliaga town on board an unidentified motorcycle.
