DOH logs 8,027 new COVID-19 cases, 145 deaths

CNN Philippines – The country again tallied over 8,000 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, raising the nationwide tally to 1,308,352, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH case bulletin showed 8,027 new cases – the highest since May 28, when there were 8,748 infections. Of the total number of cases, 4.6 percent or 60,341 are active or people currently ill. At least 90.7 percent of the active cases have mild symptoms, 5 percent have no symptoms, 1.7 percent have severe symptoms, 1.3 percent are in critical condition, and 1.24 percent are in moderate condition.

The death toll rose to 22,652 or 1.73 percent of the COVID-19 total, after 145 more people lost their lives to the disease. The DOH said 59 of the new fatalities were previously tagged as survivors and reclassified after validation while 24 duplicate cases were removed, including 19 recoveries.

The survivor count is now 1,225,359 or 93.7 percent of the cases, after 8,940 more people recovered.

The DOH said all laboratories submitted their reports on time.
