THE biggest association of devotees of the Black Nazarene filed a case against Amadeus Fernando Pagente, also known as “Pura Luka Vega,”, for mocking the Catholic faith Thursday morning at the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.

Charges for violation of R.A. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 was filed by Hijos Del Nazareno-Central composed of Catholic devotees to the Black Nazarene of Quiapo Church against Pagente for his series of performance aired live on social media like Tik-Tok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

In the performance, he depicted himself as the Black Nazarene and dancing to the tune of “Ama Namin,” which is a clear disrespect to Christianity and Catholicism.

The filing of charges by the biggest group of devotees of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo came after a series of intensive meetings with officers and members who were greatly offended by the desecration of the Catholic faith.

Earlier, the Manila City Council, headed by Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto, has issued a resolution unanimously declaring Pagente persona non grata in Manila for offending and insulting religious feelings.
