CHOCO Mucho and Cignal kept their win streaks going after besting separate foes yesterday in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena.

Isa Molde took the spotlight as the Flying Titans continued their rise from a conference opening defeat with a 25-23, 25-21, 25-19 sweep of Akari.

The HD Spikers also fueled their semifinal drive with a 25-15, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19 victory over a skidding Petro Gazz side, bouncing back from a third set lapse with a sweltering windup in the fourth.

Choco Mucho improved to 5-1 to stay within reach of undefeated Creamline. The Flying Titans have not tasted defeat since dropping a four-set decision to the Cool Smashers.

Cignal, meanwhile, has won fourth straight and fifth overall against two losses.

Molde, filling the void left by injured open spiker Des Cheng, had 10-of-22 spikes to finish with 13 points and fired two service aces to lead the Flying Titans.

Everything worked well for Choco Mucho, as Maddie Madayag also scored 13 points, including three blocks, Kat Tolentino added 11 points and nine digs, while Sisi Rondina hammered 11 kills and tallied 11 receptions. Deanna Wong tossed in 16 excellent sets.

“Laking tulong sa team. Ito yung gusto naming mangyari every game na lahat nagko-contribute and maipanalo yung game,” said Flying Titans coach Dante Alinsunurin.

The Angels and the Chargers fell to 4-3 and 3-3 cards, respectively.

Gel Cayuna anchored the HD Spikers’ sterling showing with 14 excellent sets while adding nine points and 12 digs to bag the top honors in the match that took near two hours to finish.

“The team’s mindset is to work hard against Petro Gazz, which is strong in almost all aspects, including in attacks and recoveries. Pinag-tyagaan talaga namin para maka-counter,” said Cayuna.

Vanie Gandler exploded for a career-high 23 points, including three blocks, despite missing the team’s practice last Thursday while a steady Ces Molina added 17 points for Cignal.

“Sobrang thankful and blessed sa panalo na ito,” said HD Spikers coach Shaq delos Santos. “Alam naman namin ‘to, in-expect naman talaga namin bago pa ang laban na ito, knowing PetroGazz na puro solid na senior players, so talagang alam namin kung paano sila mag-handle ng pressure.”
