
Barangay treasurer slain in Leyte gun attack
A 41-YEAR-OLD village treasurer on Thursday was killed while his octogenarian female companion was injured in a gun attack in Villaba, Leyte.
Mateo Rasonable, 41, the treasurer of Bgy. Mataloto in Leyte town, succumbed to gunshot wounds.
Rasonable’s companion, 86-year-old Angielyn Gulanie, is being treated at a hospital after also being hit by bullets.
The two were on a motorcycle when they were shot in Bgy. Cabungahan.
Gulanie managed to run despite having gunshot wounds and asked for help.
Initial investigation showed that the victims had just come from a bank in Carigara and were on their way to Bgy. Mataloto when waylaid by armed men.
Police are conducting an investigation to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
