44 DSWD staff members rushed to hospitals due to suspected food poisoning

CABANATUAN CITY — Some 44 staff members of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office 3 in Central Luzon were brought to various hospitals in Pampanga due to alleged food poisoning.

DSWD 3 regional director Venus F. Rebuldela confirmed the alleged incident took place while her staff was holding a capacity-building activity of the agency.

She said the DSWD-Field Office 3 management has already coordinated with the board and lodging service provider that was involved with the alleged food poisoning incident.

Likewise, asymptomatic employees have been given a proper medical check-up provided by the Department of Health and Clark Development Corporation to ensure their health and safety.

Rebuldela also said some of the DSWD-FO3 staff members who have been hospitalized were already discharged as of Friday afternoon and are now recovering.

She added that the board and lodging service provided has also committed to shoulder all medical expenses related to the incident.

The DSWD official did not mention what food made her staff members sick.
