Bloody love triangle

STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija — An incumbent barangay chairman on Wednesday night was shot dead by two unidentified riding-in- tandem assailants in this town.

Police head Maj. Fortune Dianne Bernardo identified the slain official as Emiliano Muncal, 52, of Bgy. Inspector, this municipality.

Bernardo said the victim just came from the barangay hall and was on his way home on a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle when attacked at 7:19 p.m. on Wednesday.

Muncal was about to park his motorcycle in front of his house when the suspects arrived on another motorcycle and peppered him with bullets.

The suspects fled towards the Santa Rosa-Tarlac provincial road while the victim, who sustained five gunshot wounds, was rushed to the Nueva Ecija Doctors Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Witnesses described the gunman as wearing black jacket with hood while the backride donning a gray jacket.

WOMAN RIDER HELD IN VILLAGE HEAD’S MURDER

Probers have zeroed in on a woman, who was said to be one of two motorcycle-riding suspects, in the murder of Muncal.

Nueva Ecija police provincial office director Col. Rhoderick Campo said a lone witness have surfaced and pointed to the woman, who was riding with the unidentified gunman during the attack.

Case prober MSgt. Niño Callueng confirmed that woman was arrested during pursuit operations conducted by combined units from the local and provincial police.

“Unidentified pa rin po ang gunman. Ayaw po magsalita ng babae na allegedly according sa witness itong babae ang kaangkas ng gunman,” Callueng told the Journal Group.

Campo said their initial investigation pointed to love triangle as possible motive for the killing.
