NORTHPORT Batang Pier went to the “Deadly Duo” of Arvin Tolentino and import Venky Jois to roll back Rain or Shine, 113-103, for its second straight win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.

Tolentino, a vital cog in Gilas Pilipinas’ historic gold-medal triumph in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China played another game to remember with 35 points on 9-of-20 shooting in 32 minutes of play.

Tolentino also had nine rebounds and four steals.

Jois, the hero in the Batang Pier’s 108-103 victory over Terrafirma the other day, had a monstrous game with a near triple double of 30 points, 21 rebounds, and seven assists in 42 minutes on the floor.

The 30-year-old import from Australia had 43-point, 10-rebounds and three-assist performance against the Dyip.

Joshua Munzon also made a solid contribution with 15 points and four assists under coach Bonnie Tan.

JM Calma and Cade Flores added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Rain or Shine import Dajuan Summers put up another formidable effort with 32 points on 11-of-19 shooting, nine rebounds, and five blocks.

Leonard Santillan contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, while Andrei Caracut added 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists for the E-Painters of coach Yeng Guiao.

The Batang Pier were in total control of the match, taking a commanding 13-point lead at the end of the first half 61-48.

The Batang Pier maintained their composure throughout the match and took a 15-point cushion, 100-85, in the final period with 7:02 remaining.

However, the Elasto Painters mounted a 14-3 run to narrow the deficit to four points, 103-99 with 3:19 on the clock.

Nevertheless, Northport responded with a 10-4 run to secure their second victory and join Meralco Bolts with a 2-0 record.
