ONE of the clubs which made a lot of noise during the conference break, F2 Logistics is ready to go deeper.

Coming off a breakthrough third place finish in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, the Cargo Movers left no stone unturned in their Invitational Conference campaign.

Newly-minted UAAP champions Jolina Dela Cruz and Mars Alba of La Salle were signed by F2 Logistics during the break, along with Far Eastern University’s Jovelyn Fernandez.

That made the Cargo Movers one of the favorites in the mid-season tournament set to open tomorrow at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

“I’m really excited to coach these girls again,” said F2 Logistics coach Regine Diego. “Hopefully, they will be able to connect and gel with the other girls as soon as possible.”

The Cargo Movers cannot take Pool B lightly.

F2 Logistics is bracketed with last conference’s runner-up PetroGazz, Cignal, Choco Mucho, comebacking Foton and newcomer Farm Fresh.

A record 13 teams, including two foreign guest squads, are vying for the crown.

One of the Cargo Movers’ biggest threats in their bracket are the Flying Titans, who also retained their nucleus in Kat Tolentino, Maddie Madayag and Bea de Leon.

All eyes will be on much-awaited return of Sisi Rondina indoors after a fruitful stint in the sand court.

“Sa pinapakita ngayon ni Sisi sa training namin, nakikita ko na malaki siyang tulong sa offense at floor defense namin. Malaking tulong din ang tapang at pagiging agresibo niya sa training,” said Choco Mucho mentor Dante Alinsunurin.

The HD Spikers of Shaq Delos Santos, on the other hand, made two key signings, acquiring Ateneo’s Vanie Gandler and Army’s Jovelyn Gonzaga, Rondina’s teammate in beach volleyball.

Korean Volleyball League-bound MJ Phillips and Remy Palma, on the other hand, are ready to anchor the team’s championship drive again.

The Foxies, meanwhile have made some aggressive moves that have put them in the conversation in the run-up to their inaugural campaign.

Handled by former PetroGazz head coach Jerry Yee, Farm Fresh were able to secure former Adamson standouts Trisha Tubu, Kate Santiago, Kyle Tagsip, and Cae Lazo, and ex-Ateneo players Pia Ildefonso and Joan Narit.

They will be backstopped by the core from reigning NCAA champion College of Saint Benilde led by Gayle Pascual.

Developing chemistry is the least of the Foxies’ concerns since Yee is currently the head coach of the Lady Blazers while also handling the four Lady Falcons in their team during his time with the San Marcelino-based school.

F2 Logistics and Farm Fresh usher in the new conference at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow with Petro Gazz and Cignal squaring off at 4 p.m.

Creamline and Chery Tiggo collide in the lone Pool A match at 6:30 p.m.

The top two teams from each pool will advance after the single round eliminations, thus making each match, set and point important.
