NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, Major General Vicente D. Danao Jr. on Tuesday called on the public to fully cooperate with them as they strictly enforce the ‘No Vaccine, No Travel’ policy imposed by the government in all public transport in Metro Manila.

Danao said they are fully implementing the Department of Transportation (DOTr) order thru the maximum presence of uniformed policemen in terminals and places of convergence in the metropolis to help check the vaccination cards of commuters.

He added that as part of the government decision to protect unvaccinated individuals who are susceptible to the adverse effects of COVID infection, the ‘no vaccination card, no ride’ policy is being strictly implemented alongside the strict implementation of minimum public health safety protocol such as the mandatory wearing of face masks and physical distancing.

“Commuters will have to present their physical/ digital vaccination card all over the region as long as the region remains under Alert Level 3 or higher,” he said.

The top Metro Manila police official said checking of vaccination cards will be part of the observance of the minimum public health safety protocol that have been implemented by the Philippine National Police as ordered by General Dionardo B. Carlos.

He added that travelers who remain unvaccinated due to their medical condition are exempted from the “no vaccination, no ride” policy as long as they can show a valid and duly signed medical certificate with the name and contact details of their doctors.

Unvaccinated commuters who will buy essential goods and services and need medical attention will be exempted provided that they should also show a duly issued barangay health pass or other proofs to justify travel, he added.

“As of this report, we are glad to announce that we have not arrested any for violating the policy. Nakita nman po natin na ang ating mga kababayan ay sumusunod po sa mga panukala na inilabas ng mga nangungunang ahensya sa pagpapatupad po nito. Umaasa po tayo na sana tuluy tuloy po yan para sa ganun ay mapagtagumpayan natin ang ating kinakaharap na pandemya. Magtulungan lang tayo at sundin ang mga batas, polisiya at regulasyon na ipinatutupad ng ating mga kinauukulang otoridad,” Danao said.
