TWO young men wanted for sexually abusing a 17-year- old student in Agusan del Sur last March were arrested by the local police in separate manhunt operations on Saturday, Police Regional Office 13 director Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft reported yesterday.

The official identified the two as Wilmar Maturan, a 20-year-old resident of Bgy. Caingangan in Veruela municipality, and Dejun Cagud,21, a resident of Bgy. La Fortuna, also in Veruela.

Kraft said that Maturan and Cagud have been listed as the 4th and 8th most wanted persons in Veruela prior to their arrest which was made on the strength of non-bailable warrants issued by the Trento Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Agusan del Sur.

The two were accused of sexually abusing a 17-yea- old student last March 16 before going into hiding, the official said. Both are now being held at the local police jail.

“We will make sure that the victim shall get justice by making these perpetrators accountable for the commission of heinous crime. We shall not fail to make women and young girls free from such violent acts,” he added.
