Solons greet Muslim community celebrating Eid’l Adha

TWO House leaders joined the Muslim community in commemorating the Feast of Sacrifice or Eid’l Adha.

Deputy Speakers Loren Legarda and Mujiv Hataman urged Filipino Muslims to continue their faith and will to sacrifice for the good of the nation.

“May we appreciate this reminder and take this time to reflect on the lessons that this feast signifies – strong faith and the admirable act of being selfless, obedient and willing to surrender to the will of God,” Legarda said.

Regardless of beliefs and religion, the lawmaker who is representing Antique, is encouraging everyone to respect the sacred feast of Muslim brethren and together, develop interfaith harmony.

Legarda said may the celebration serves as hope for genuine peace and lasting security not just in the Mindanao region, but the whole nation as well.

“I wish to reiterate my full support for government efforts to further strengthen Christian-Muslim unity. Greater awareness of each other’s celebrations and traditions will help bring to the fore the significance of a healthy and constructive discussions among the different faiths in the Philippines,” Legarda added.

For his part, Hataman said the Eid’l Adha marked the unity not just of Muslim families but the entire nation.

The lawmaker from Basilan expressed hope that the entire Philippines will be able to cope up with the pandemic brought by the CoVID-19 and recover soon.

“Ang Eid’l Adha rin ay tungkol sa pamilya o mag-anak, sa ating pakikibahagi sa pagdiriwang ng komunidad – mula sa sama-samang pananalangin hanggang sa paghahanda ng pagkain at paghingi ng kapatawaran sa kapwa. Para naman sa mga kapatid nating Moro at Muslim sa bansa, ang Eid’s Adha ay nangangahulugan din ng sama-samang pagpupursigi para sa pagpapabuti ng ating bayan, lalo na sa gitna ng mga paghihirap na dulot ng pandemya,” he said.

“Dalangin ko ay manatili tayong ligtas sa gitna ng pagsubok na ito, at malagpasan ang pandemya na mas matibay pa ang ating pananampalatay,” the solon added.
