CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Seven police officers on Friday were arrested by joint operatives of the Luzon Field Unit-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (LFU-IMEG) Team 3, Angeles City Internal Affairs Service and City Intelligence Unit of Angeles City Police Office for alleged involvement in an illegal arrest, arbitrary detention and extortion of 12 individuals.

In a report to PRO (Police Regional Office) 3 director Police Brigadier Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr., the operating units conducted a random inspection of Angeles City Police Station 2 after receiving information that a certain person was unlawfully arrested and detained at a police station and that some of its personnel reportedly “demanded money” from an individual.

In the inspection, it was found out that 12 others were currently detained without any cases filed against them.

The seven police officers were immediately relieved from their posts and were brought to Camp Crame in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo said the police are fully committed to continuing the PNP’s internal cleansing programs to get rid of “rogue” police officers, whether they are active, retired, or dismissed from the service.
