A TOTAL of 52,000 policemen will be deployed in Metro Manila and other parts of the country to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of the Holy Week, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr. said.

Acorda made the announcement as he led an inter-agency conference at Camp Crame to finalize their security preparations for ‘Semana Santa.’

Acorda outlined the deployment of a total of 52,000 personnel from different Police Regional Offices including personnel and trained dogs from the PNP EOD/K9 Unit across various areas in the country, particularly in churches, terminals, tourist spots, and other convergence areas.

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) called on the public to dial its hotline number 1326 for immediate assistance and reporting of any incidents.

Acorda also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Philippine Coast Guard, especially in managing crowded areas.

He instructed police ground commanders to thoroughly inspect their deployment in their areas and ensure the presence of trained police personnel at tourist spots equipped with rescue equipment such as life vests to effectively respond to emergencies.

Gen. Acorda likewise ordered the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to enhance its cyber-patrolling efforts particularly in monitoring online booking websites to prevent scams targeting the public.
