THREE men were arrested by officers of the National Capital Region Field Unit of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group for robbery and violation of the anti-gun and anti-fencing law in separate operations in Metro Manila on Monday, officials said yesterday.

The suspects were identified as ‘Keil,’ 28; ‘Mark,’38; and ‘Gab,’34. The 4th suspect identified as ‘AC,’ of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga is still being hunted as of press time by members of the CIDG-NCRFU under Colonel Hansel M. Marantan.

‘Keil’ was charged with violation of Presidential Decree 1612 or the anti-fencing law while the other suspects were charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 and robbery.

A CIDG-NCRFU report said four complainants went to the NCRFU office to ask for police assistance after they apprehended the first suspect thru ‘Citizen’s Arrest’ for selling two laptop computers worth P49,000 to them.

It turned out that the laptop computers were stolen during a robbery-holdup incident that took place at the corner of Andres Bonifacio Avenue and Abao Street in Barangay Paang Bundok in Quezon City at around 6 p.m. last January 14.

During questioning, the 1st suspect confessed he would meet his cohorts to deliver the payment for the gadgets in Marikina City.

A follow-up operation was later conducted past 8 p.m. Monday by CIDG-NCRFU operatives led by Lieutenant Col. Eric V. Reverente and the CIDG Eastern District Field Unit, with the support of the Eastern Police District.

During the operation, officers noticed a gray Chevrolet roaming in the area near Marcos Highway in Marikina City. A check showed that the plate number belonged to another vehicle prompting the lawmen to accost the occupants of the vehicle.

An inspection of the vehicle led to the recovery of one caliber .45 semi-automatic pistol with a magazine loaded with 10 bullets and assorted identification cards.
