266 Cabanatuan ballot boxes inventoried for 2022 polls

CABANATUAN CITY – At least 266 ballot boxes that were used in the previous May 2019 elections and stored for safekeeping at the City Treasurer’s Office were inventoried for future use in next year’s national and local polls.

The inventory was conducted at the Elections Paraphernalia Storage Facility Building inside the city hall compound in compliance with Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10702, authorizing the opening of ballot boxes used in the 2019 polls and transferring its contents in preparation for the 2002 national and local elections.

Representatives from the City Treasurer’s Office, Department of Interior and Local Government-Cabanatuan City, Department of Education and Commission on Elections conducted the activity which was witnessed by political parties concerned as well as members of the media.

During the three-day inventory and inspection conducted from April 19-21, the joint teams found no irregularities in so far as the condition of the ballot locks and seals as they remain intact and secured.

Out of the 266 ballot boxes that were kept at the CTO, only 228 were opened and stripped of its contents as the other 38 ballot boxes were left untouched as it contained election materials that were still subject of election protests in the barangay level.
