2 violators held at Batangas PNP-COMELEC checkpoints

CAMP Gen. Miguel Malvar, Batangas — Two men were arrested at PNP-COMELEC checkpoints in Cuenca and Calaca towns last Sunday.

A report to Batangas police director PCol. Glicerio C. Cansilao by Cuenca Municipal Police Station chief PCAPT Nestori P. Mercado identified the suspecas Angelo Apellido Perillio.

Perillo was caught trying to sneak into the Batangas PNP-COMELEC checkpoint in Bgy. Poblacion 1, Cuenca City, around 10:45 a.m. on January 9.

Police allegedly halted the suspect who was driving a motorcycle because he was not wearing a helmet, but instead of stopping, he passed the said checkpoint, The police immediately chased and arrested the suspect.

The suspect failed to show the necessary documents.

On the same day, Dennis Bajar Patulot was also stopped by police while driving a blue SYM motorcycle around 3:45 p.m. m. in Bgy. Dacanlao, Calaca town.

The suspect sped off.

Police chased the suspect.

When Patrolman De Leus was riding his police motorcycle almost beside the suspect, the latter kicked his bike causing him to lose his balance and he hit the pavement and sustained knee injuries and bruises.

The direct assault case will be filed against the said suspect.

The PNP-COMELEC checkpoint in Batangas will be strictly enforced until June 8, the last day of the election period.

“Our police together with COMELEC officials will respectfully conduct such a checkpoint for the entire duration of the election period so we are fully dependent on the cooperation of everyone. We continue to encourage everyone to follow the rules for the upcoming elections” PCOL Cansilao said.
