OPERATIVES of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have arrested two persons for selling liquefied petroleum gas without permit in Sagbayan, Bohol.

NBI Officer-In-Charge Eric B. Distor identified the suspects as spouses Casiano Oro and Anabel Oro.

Their arrest stemmed from a report received by the NBI-BOHDO (Bohol District Office) that suspects are engaged in the illicit trade of LPG.

NBI-BOHDO conducted a series of surveillance operations and confirmed that suspects are operating an unlicensed refilling and retailing of LPG, particularly Butane.

The Department of Energy-Visayas Field Office has issued a Certification stating that suspects are not registered with them for the issuance of Standard Compliance Certificate for the refilling, retailing, distribution, and hauling of LPG.

With this information, the NBI-BOHDO hatched a buy-bust operation against the suspects as an undercover agent/ poseur-buyer ordered 300 pieces of Butane.

On August 3, 2021, NBI-BOHDO strategically positioned near the target area in Sagbayan, Bohol. Upon arrival of the suspects, they showed the poseur-buyer 300 cans of Butane and loaded it into the poseur-buyer’s vehicle, then handed over the marked money to spouses and gave the pre-arranged signal that the transaction has been consummated. The undercover agent together with the rest of the NBI-BOHDO operatives immediately apprehended them.

Suspects were presented for inquest before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Tagbilaran City for illegal trading of petroleum and/or petroleum products, prohibited and penalized under Sec 2(a) of P.D. 1865.
